Implantology and Family Cosmetic Dentistry

Dental implants can stabilize a person’s new prostheses and, therefore, no tilting or pain will be felt. Teeth on implants have a better prognosis than bridges because it avoids devitalizing and cutting healthy teeth. Implants are useful in some cases of orthodontic treatments. The importance of which family cosmetic dentistry is chosen can be just as critical as the treatment option chosen.

This treatment was established decades ago by Professor Branemark of Sweden. Of course, technology has evolved and now this treatment is one of the most successful in family cosmetic dentistry history. How many teeth can be replaced with dental implants? One or more teeth. In the case of a person with full dentures (dentures), all teeth can be replaced with ceramic or resin teeth on implants, thus offering the chance of having permanent teeth.

Is this treatment effective and appropriate for all? Only a thorough examination of your general health, the condition of the jaw bones, can determine whether this treatment is suitable for you. Uncontrolled diabetes, heart valve disorders, hemophilia, maxillary radiotherapy (rays on the jaws), etc. are some examples of contraindication. In addition, the success rate is lower for smokers. Is age a contraindication? Certainly not. Apart from general health problems, there are no contraindications to implants in elderly people (80 years and older) and those who undergo this procedure have very good success rates. In general, implants are used to stabilize removable dental appliances.

How long does a dental implant last? Dental implants can last for many years if properly maintained and the local and general condition is good. Titanium (the implant of which is made) is the most bio-compatible material to date. The success rate of the implants varies with the quantity and quality of the bones of the maxilla. If the person’s general health is good, if the recommended oral hygiene methods are practiced and if the dental cleanings and examinations are done regularly, a life expectancy in excess of 10-15 years can be expected.

Is this a painful treatment? In the vast majority of cases, there is no sensitivity during or after implant placement. If the patient follows the advice given, implant placement is less painful than simple dental extraction. Contact Lewis Family Dentistry for more info. You can also follow them on Twitter.
